Finding Hedge Fund Internships
- Create Your Own: If you approach a dozen hf managers and show them that you are responsible, pro-active, intelligent, and hard working chances are someone is going to offer you an internship. The trick can be getting the attention of the managers int he first place. To do this try meeting in person and attending industry networking events as often as possible.
- Consider small HFs: The smaller the HF the more likely they are to need your help researching potential investors for their fund and looking at potential investments as well.
- Use Google: Obviously you should be using search engines to look for internships, the most effective way to do so however is to look for both internship programs as well as names of local HF managers nearby. This way you can quickly start to meet with potential employers in person.
- Designations: Many designation programs offer internships to portion of their participants, check with them before you join to see which may offer internship opportunities.
- Service Providers: While it may not seem very sex to work for an IT firm or fund administrator it can be a way to get industry experience if internships with other types of firms are not readily available.
